RDMC awarded LRT operation and maintenance

In presence of the Minister of Transport of Egypt, Lt Gen. Kamel Al Wazir, the NAT and RATP Dev, today signed an agreement for the operation and maintenance of the 10th of Ramadan - New Administrative Capital City Electric Train (LRT) for a period of 15 years, renewable for 5 more years.

With 11 stations stretching over about 65 kilometers from Adly Mansour to the New Administrative Capital, the flagship electric line will offer passengers state-of-the-art transportation and service from the heart of Cairo to the new cities located to the east of the Egyptian capital.

A key component of the NAT's vision for an integrated transportation system linking all modes, the line will be connected to Green Line 3 at Adly Mansour interchange station.

Thanks to Green Line 3 intersections with the other Cairo metro lines, residents and visitors of Greater Cairo will be able to conveniently access the New Administrative Capital. The 10th of Ramadan - New Administrative Capital City Electric Train is scheduled to commence operations in the 4th quarter of 2021.

RATP Dev Mobility Cairo will offer the population of Cairo a state-of-the-art service, in line with RATP Dev’s international standards put in place in major cities around the world (Paris, London, Hong Kong, Manila, Doha, Casablanca, etc.): punctuality and regularity, world-leading customer service practices and strong asset maintenance capabilities.

RATP Dev Mobility Cairo will invest in the local workforce, with an aim of minimum 90% Egyptian employees. In addition to specific training provided outside Egypt, the Training Center that will be created by RATP Dev in Cairo will ensure the transfer of knowledge and know-how.

Laurence Batlle, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of RATP Dev, said: “We are greatly honored to be awarded this significant contract by NAT. The Egyptian authorities have a truly exciting urban transport vision, and the 10th of Ramadan - New Administrative Capital City Electric Train is a central part of that.
